Satellite Antenna on a Bailey Motorhome
Nigel and Colin attended a Bailey motorhome to install a Satfi RV. The customer made us very welcome making us copious cups of tea and coffee. Nigel got on to the roof to prepare the antenna site whilst Colin started on the below decks equipment.
The antenna was placed on the roof and the 4 feet were drawn around to mark their position. The antenna was then removed so preparation could be made. The area inside the positions were keyed with sandpaper and then degreased using Methylated Spirit. A UV stable adhesive was used in lines and then the antenna was set in place and screwed down. The screw holes were counter sunk and filled with adhesive to stop any water ingress. The single antenna cable was routed down inside the vehicle through a 316 marine grade stainless steel gland. Special attention was taken in the measuring of the hole position so the cable would come down out of sight inside a void behind the microwave. The stainless gland was sealed down with adhesive and screwed in place.
Inside Colin mounted the control box at the back of a cupboard with the controllers magic eye coming out next to the satellite point. A fused 12 volt power supply was fed to the control box. A satellite connector was added to the existing phono plate to keep everything inside looking identical. The antenna cable was routed down behind the scenes to the control box and an out going lead was routed from the control box to the rear of the newly made phono / satellite plate. A lead was then run from the plate to the television and the television tuned in.
The customers joined us in the motorhome for a handover and demonstration on the how the antenna functions.
